Buyers advertise tenders on a number of different tendering portals, some of which are included below. In their tender notice, they will include a CPV (Common Procurement Vocabulary) Code relating to the product, works or services being tendered. As a supplier, when registering on these sites, you will be asked to include the CPV Codes which relate to your business. When a notice is published which includes the Codes you’ve added, you will automatically be alerted to the opportunity.
Registration on most tendering portals is free and relatively straightforward. It is worth taking time over your profile as buyers will often look businesses up through these portals, it may be their first introduction to your business so your profile should look professional, clearly describe what you do and include any relevant accreditations etc.
Buyers may also use the portals to identify a number of suppliers to approach directly for a quotation, if your profile is not convincing, you may not be included.
It is worth registering on the following portals, but don’t sit back and wait for opportunities to come to you, use them to proactively search current opportunities, to follow buyers and to identify successful tenderers named in Contract Award Notices who you could contact to see whether or not there are any opportunities for you as a tier 2 or 3 supplier.
